Will Santa Be Forced to Relocate?

Kyrgyzstan

A shocking study was recently released by the Swedish engineering consulting firm SWECO. National Public Radio reports: “ A Swedish engineering firm still believes in Santa Claus, but it says the North Pole is all wrong for him. To finish his job in time for Christmas morning, the firm calculated that Santa's base should be in Kyrgyzstan. It took into account the main population centers and the Earth's rotation. The firm also found that Santa has 34 microseconds for each chimney stop. That's one fast Santa.”

I’d like to know who ordered the study and what their ties are to Kyrgyzstan. Is Ronald Snow cashing Kyrgyzstani reelection-campaign checks? I’m sure their tourism board would love to have Santa’s operation lining their pockets, unless being the world’s largest producer of fermented mare’s milk is still pulling ‘em in. The whole thing smacks of H.O.H.O.H.O. and its increasing marginalization of Christmas.

You can hear the N.P.R. report here and read more about this story at msnbc.com and The Moscow Times.

SANTA REMOVED

A Washington DC judge took the extraordinary step of removing the Father of Christmas on Tuesday after concluding that holiday icon Santa Claus violated a higher moral code when he discriminated against children across the world with his "Naughty and Nice" list.

In a case that pared ethics with the traditions of a major holiday, Judge David Hollenback made pointed criticisms of Santa's "dictatorial" behavior, saying that he violated the "golden rule" by enforcing the names on his list. Judge Hollenback insisted that Christmas is about loving your neighbor, not punishing them.

In the absence of the beloved holiday figure, the government has stepped in with a multi-lateral committee, H.O.-H.O.-H.O. (House for Organizing Holiday Opportunity and Happiness Oversight). Ronald Snow, Chairman of the newly formed committee, announced that there will be several changes made to Christmas this year. "I will not rest until Christmas is fun and safe for everyone." H.O.-H.O.-H.O. is expected to roll out their changes in the coming weeks.
